12-year-old and 14-year-old arrested Friday after threatening to “shooting up” Comeaux High

LAFAYETTE, La. (ENN) — According to authorities, two students were taken into custody on Friday in connection with two different events where threats were made to "shoot up" Comeaux High.

Information regarding a threat made in a Comeaux High Snapchat group was provided to Lafayette Police yesterday evening. The students stated: "I'm wearing pajama pants and the shirt and if dey tell me smth, I'm shooting up the skl.”  Police were able to track down the student who posted the comment by conducting more investigation, leading them to a 12-year-old male. He was taken into custody and charged with one count of terrorizing. He was placed in the Juvenile Detention Center.

The second incident happened this morning at 8:30 a.m. when the Lafayette Police Department received a call stating that there was a shootout at Comeaux High. A second inquiry into this phone call was launched, and as a consequence, a 14-year-old female Comeaux High student was taken into custody on one count of terrorizing.

The Lafayette Police Department would like the community to know that these threats are taken very seriously and that students are always their top priority. “We'll put in endless effort to find the individuals posing these dangers. This is never a lighthearted issue,” authorities stated. “We strongly advise anyone who discovers concerning information regarding our institutions to report it to the police.”
