Lafayette school placed on lockdown due to social media threat

Lafayette, LA – Lafayette Police was notified of a threat made against a school administrator at Northside High on Tuesday morning. 


The threat made mention, via social media, that this administrator would be shot.  The school was placed on lockdown to ensure the safety of the staff and students.   Investigators with the Youth Services Section are actively investigating the incident. 

 

The Lafayette Police Department would like to emphasize that false information or false social media threats of violence will never be tolerated under any circumstances. These situations that have occurred this week in our school systems are affecting everyone in the community and must stop. The Lafayette Police Department will continue to enforce all laws pertaining to these types of situations.
