Bobcat sightings in Rayne: police

RAYNE, La. (ENN) — Authorities in Rayne say they have received multiple reports of bobcat sightings in the vicinity of Carmichael’s Apartments off of Hwy 35, just north of I-10, in Rayne.

“While bobcats are naturally reclusive and not typically a threat to humans, it is important to exercise caution,” Carroll Stelly, Chief of Police in Rayne, stated.

Police encourage everyone to follow the tips below if they encounter a bobcat:

- Do not approach or attempt to feed the animal.

- Keep a safe distance and ensure small children and pets are secure.

“Please be vigilant, especially during dawn and dusk when bobcats are most active,” Chief Stelly continued. “Let's keep our community safe by staying informed and prepared.”
