4-year-old dies from gunshot wound, police say

LAFAYETTE, LA (ENN) —– Lafayette Police says they responded to the 100 block of Bryan St. regarding an “injured” four-year-old child.


The dispatch was made around 10:30am on Thursday morning, the report says. The child was transported to a local hospital by ambulance where the child was pronounced deceased.


A source tells EVEN News exclusively that it is believed that the child was possibly shot, by accident, by its 10-year-old sibling.


LPD investigators were called to the scene and are actively investigating this incident. An update will be released once additional information is obtained.
