2 arrested after police seize over 1.5 million worth of narcotics, weapons, and cash in Lafayette


LAFAYETTE, La. (ENN) - Officers with the Lafayette Police Department and Louisiana State Police executed two search warrants in Lafayette on Tuesday, yielding in over 1.5 million in narcotics, and more.


The first search warrant was executed in the 100 block of Syrup Row by LPD Narcotics Agents and LPD SWAT. The second search warrant was executed in the 400 block of Lancaster Drive by LPD Narcotics Agents, DEA, LSP and LSP SWAT.  

The end result of this investigation resulted in the following seizures:

 

2 Kilograms of Cocaine (street value of $200,000)

 2.3 Kilograms of Methamphetamine (street value of $460,000)

 2.25 Kilograms of Fentanyl (street value of $902,800)

 22 grams of Marijuana (street value of $400)

 Two Kilogram presses

 One electric mixer

 Four handguns (one stolen)

 $9,100.00 in US Currency

 Assorted Drug Paraphernalia

 2018 Honda Accord

 

One suspect, Trayvon Charles, 33, was arrested and charged with6 counts of Distribution of Fentanyl, PWITD Fentanyl, PWITD Marijuana, Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of a CDS (2 counts), Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (2 counts), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Monies Derived from Drug Proceeds.

 

A second suspect, Jakaylen Charles, 25, was arrested for PWITD Methamphetamine, PWITD Fentanyl, PWITD Cocaine, Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of a CDS, and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.

 

Both suspects were booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.  The total seizure value is estimated to be approximately $1,572, 300.00.
