LAFAYETTE, LA (EVEN News)- Lafayette Police responded to a local hospital, in regards to suspicious circumstances involving an injured juvenile on September 1.
Officers responded to the local hospital and shortly afterwards, "it was determined that youth service detectives would be needed," according to a release. An investigator was subsequently called to the scene and an investigation was initiated, which resulted in the suspect being arrested.
It was determined through investigation that the suspect was in caring for the juvenile during the timeframe which the injuries occurred. On Tuesday, the injured juvenile, an 18-month-old male, succumbed to his injuries and died.
The suspect is identified as Alayjah Kennedy, 18, of Lafayette, La. and has been charged with one count of first degree murder.
